Our origins · since 1991
Rooted in vehicle logistics. Built around connected work.
FMS has its roots in everyday operations. Holz Fahrzeugtransfer began in 1991 with a student job: cleaning rental cars and transferring vehicles between locations. As assignments, drivers, customers and destinations multiplied, bringing information together reliably became increasingly important.
What was already connected in 2005
Original documents dated 23 May 2005 describe FMS as a connected online environment. The historical system diagram links Customersection, Distribution, Drive and FMS Online with GPS and position data.
Customers and orders
Customers could create, amend and cancel orders online. Track & Trace made it possible to follow their progress.
Drivers and mobile feedback
PDA devices sent status and operational data back to the central system during assignments. GPS navigation and position information supported the mobile workflow.
Documents and commercial work
Digital delivery documents, invoices and expense records were connected to the relevant assignment. Budget information and analysis formed part of that same context.

The task continues. Its scope keeps growing.
Web, PDA, GPS and Track & Trace shaped the earlier system. Development today carries that idea forward through FMS Core, Communication, Mobile, Call and Intelligence: information should come together where people work and make decisions.
Work with complex administrative proceedings extended this approach to sources, historical versions and relationships between evidence. Documents from different years, institutions and proceedings need to be connected; new findings and conflicting statements should remain traceable.
Today, the EHF companies in Germany, Sweden and the United States provide practical requirements for further development. The business history starts in 1991; this does not mean that the same software has remained in use unchanged since then. FMS Global is under active development. Mobile and Call remain identified as product previews.
